Jones Networking is recruiting for an Ammonia Refrigeration Technician to join a food manufacturing facility in Alexandria, VA. This position requires experience operating, testing, troubleshooting and repairing ammonia refrigeration systems, boilers, hot water systems, glycol and compressed air systems.
Ammonia Refrigeration Technician Summary:
-Operation, testing, troubleshooting and repair of the ammonia refrigeration systems, its sub-systems, and all auxiliary processes and/or equipment related to the operation of the refrigeration system.
-Perform planned maintenance on all ammonia refrigeration and utility systems.
-Maintain the material integrity of the Refrigeration and Utility Rooms in accordance with established best practices.
-Complete all applicable documentation as required and directed by Department Manager including but not limited to: PSM related modifications or changes, Work Orders (WO’s), refrigeration system and operation notes.
-Perform chemical tests on boilers and condenser towers.
-Perform daily rounds and inspections of temperatures and condition of Ammonia System.
-Any other duties as assigned by the Maintenance / Refrigeration Manager.
Education / Experience Summary:
-Minimum two years ammonia refrigeration experience in a food manufacturing facility.
-Must be able to pass a respirator fit test, pulmonary function test and a 24-hour hazmat class.
-Ammonia Certification from GCAP or RETA required.
-Experience with operating and maintaining spiral freezers.
-Must be able to perform or capable of learning ammonia system pump downs for repairing / replacing ammonia refrigeration parts.
-Basic knowledge of General Maintenance and Electrical and Electronic Systems.
-Must comply with all company safety rules (Lockout / Tagout), Good Manufacturing Practices – GMPs, and all Process Safety Management – PSM regulations.
