Position Title: Government Relations Specialist

Position Summary:
- Support all efforts of the Government Relations Practice Group
- Monitor legislative developments in areas of interest to clients within Committees, on the House floor, and in the Senate.
- Conduct legislative research and prepare legislative histories and other related documents and reports on issues of interest to clients
- Track legislation and other developments in specific issue areas and prepare written analysis for members of the practice group and clients
- Attend hearings and providing live blogging on issues being discussed
- Act as a liaison with congressional office staff to produce favorable outcomes for clients
- Oversee the firm’s PAC – Political Action Committee
- Support and facilitate client meetings on Capitol Hill with Members of Congress
- Prepare lobbying disclosure reports
Qualifications Summary:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science or related field, with strong academic credentials
- Minimum two years Legislative Assistant experience working on Capitol Hill
- Thorough knowledge of the legislative process and of congressional organization and procedures
- Extensive knowledge and experience working with congressional staff
- Strong research experience and knowledge of research techniques and resources to conduct legislative research
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment; understanding the political sensitivity behind issues
- Proven ability to write client ready summaries of developments
- Work well under time sensitive deadlines
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed
