Position Summary for the Workers’ Compensation Attorney:
– Exhibit a professional and courteous demeanor to all team members and the public.
– Provide excellent customer service to a wide range of diverse internal and external clientele.
– Significant interaction with court system mediations, trials, hearings, motions, oral and written advocacy to the Industrial Commission.
– Significant interaction with insurance company adjusters, clients and internal team members.
– Interpret laws, rulings and regulations for clients.
– Examine legal and medical data to determine the viability of the case.
– Confer with colleagues to establish and verify the basis for legal proceedings.
– Conduct research, interview clients and witnesses and handle other details in preparation for settlement or hearings. When appropriate, facilitates settlement.
– Must be able to effectively work and communicate within a team of Attorneys and legal administrative team members to proactively manage an assigned volume of client cases.
– Efficiently utilize available technology, including computers, databases, portals, and software, needed to successfully perform the job.
– Willing to establish and build relationships with other professionals in the communities we serve to enhance our brand recognition, marketing efforts and client service.
– Travel is required.

Qualifications Summary for the Workers’ Compensation Attorney:
– JD degree from an accredited college or university
– NC State Bar membership required
– Dual State Bar memberships, especially VA or SC a plus
– At least 3+ years of experience in workers’ compensation law
– Ability to exercise extensive independent judgment to make decisions in carrying out assignments that have substantial impact on the department
– Ability to instruct, direct, mentor, and evaluate employees
– Communicate effectively and use judgment, tact and discretion
– Quickly assimilate oral and written data, to analyze facts and draw logical conclusions
– Maintain favorable client/employee relations
