Job Description

Position Title:  DevOps Practice Lead 
Department:  Software Development
Location:  Washington, DC
Report to:  Director of Operations 
Status:  Full Time, Direct Hire

Position Summary:

  • Collaborate with software developers, system operators and other staff members to manage software releases
  • Participate in the processes of strategic project-planning
  • Provide guidance and expertise on system options, risk, impact and costs vs. benefits
  • Create and share operational requirements and develop forecasts to allow timely and accurate planning of projects
  • Install and configure software solutions while assisting with all stages of data testing
  • Use configuration management technology to deploy software updates
  • Create requirements and procedures for implementing routine system maintenance
  • Troubleshoot existing information systems and resolve errors
  • Provide recommendations for enhancing software performance via gap analysis
  • Collaborate in a team environment to communicate concepts and guidelines while determining requirements for software and applications

Qualifications Summary:

  • Minimum six years related experience in software development and/or systems administration
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field; preferably in Computer Science
  • Experience using the following tools preferred; Atlassian’s Jira, Git, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Visual Studio Team Systems (VSTS), Team Foundation Server (TFS), Jenkins, and Docker
  • Knowledge of the following techniques desired; Source basics, branching, continuous integration, testing and test automation
  • The following certifications are a plus; Agile Practitioner, Certified Scrum Master, Kanban Expert
  • Knowledge of the most current software technology and tools
  • Data management skills
  • Understanding of desired business outcomes and ability to create strategy to achieve them
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple urgent situations simultaneously
