Import / Export Specialist

Jones Networking is recruiting for an Import / Export Specialist to join a Manufacturing Company in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Import / Export Specialist ensures the proper and timely movement of international ocean and/or air freight and information, while complying with internal and external requirements and providing exceptional customer service. Position Summary for the Import / Export Specialist:
– Generate shipment specs to be provided to freight forwarder.
– Coordinate the routing of import and export bookings.
– Initiate pick-ups and deliveries to authorized agents and freight forwarder.
– Prepare, handle, and process documentation including commercial documents, and customs/regulatory documents.
– Communicate effectively and timely with customers, foreign agents, and co-workers through high volume of emails and telephone calls.
– Maintain compliance standards at all times including internal policies and procedures, external government regulations, and customer requirements.
– Prepare and post accurate, timely customer invoices.
– Assist with accounting duties as they relate to imports / exports.
– Other administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications Summary for the Import / Export Specialist:
– At least 2+ years in the export industry
– Knowledge and awareness of applicable US and international ocean and air import and export laws and regulations
– Excellent customer service, time management, and prioritization skills
– Excellent oral and written communication skills in person and via telephone
– Able to utilize sound, independent judgment and make responsible decisions and recommendations
– Excellent follow-through and detail orientation
– Able to effectively utilize computer programs including Word and Excel
– Experience with QuickBooks is helpful, but not required
