Position Title: Chief Building Engineer
Industry: Commercial Property Management
Location: Hyattsville, Maryland
Report to: Property Manager
Status: Full time
Position Summary:
- Oversee daily operations of the office building and grounds
- Monitor building systems and processes
- Ensure that the design and maintenance of building systems meets health and safety requirements
- Oversee and supervise the installation of building systems
- Make decisions about expired systems equipment and the appropriate location of new equipment
- Check malfunctioning equipment and ascertain corrective action required to restore to satisfactory operating condition and help facilitate root cause analysis
- Supervise and direct maintenance staff and monitor performance of their assigned responsibilities
- Perform and/or direct maintenance department service requests ensuring that the work performed is accomplished efficiently with a minimum amount of disruption, inconvenience and with adequate clean up
- Assist with addressing tenant issues as necessary
Qualifications Summary:
- Maryland, DC or Virginia Stationary Operating Engineer License (Grades 1, 2, 3, 4 , 5 OR 6 required)
- Minimum five years hands on building engineer experience for a commercial property
- Supervisory experience
- Experience with low pressure boilers and hot water systems
- Experience troubleshooting and recording boiler / chiller readings (Siemens, York, Carrier, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with plumbing, carpentry, electrical wiring, and tenant build-outs
- Strong HVAC experience
- Ability to generate weekly reports and assist with budgeting
- Proficiency in MS Word; Excel preferred
- Flexibility to work on-call as needed
- Strong customer / tenant relations skills
