Family Law Attorney Responsibilities:
– Provide the highest quality family law legal services to a diverse group of clients in an ethical and professional environment
– Represent clients in court actions in New Hanover, Pender and Brunswick Counties for divorce, annulment, child custody, child support, post separation support, alimony, equitable distribution, and enforcement of orders and agreements
– Prepare and process interrogatories, request for documents, request for admission, subpoenas, take and defend depositions
– Represent clients at family financial mediation
– Process adoptions and name changes
– Represent parents in cases involving allegations by the Department of Social Services of child abuse, neglect and dependency
– Represent parents in court for contempt of child support orders
– Prepare separation and property settlement agreements
– Work cooperatively with attorneys, paralegals, support staff, and court staff

Family Law Attorney Requirements:
– At least 3-5 years of family law experience; North Carolina family law experience is preferred
– Admitted to practice law in North Carolina
– Excellent academic credentials, creative analytical and problem-solving skills
– Detail-oriented with excellent organization skills, including the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with little to no supervision
– Team player, committed to working with colleagues and clients
– Strong understanding of North Carolina family law statutes and case law
– Ability to research and analyze legal issues
– Proficient legal writing skills
