Responsibilities of the Criminal Defense Attorney: 
– Represent clients in all phases of criminal proceedings, including arraignments, hearings, trials, and sentencing.

– Handle a variety of cases involving misdemeanors, felonies, juvenile offenses, and occasionally appeals.

– Analyze charges, evaluate potential penalties, and advise clients on legal options.

– Conduct thorough case investigation, including reviewing evidence, interviewing witnesses, and working with experts or investigators.

– Identify and litigate constitutional issues such as unlawful searches, coerced confessions, or rights violations.

– Negotiate plea deals with prosecutors when in the best interest of the client.

– Advocate zealously in court—presenting evidence, examining witnesses, and making persuasive legal arguments.

– Prepare and file appeals when warranted.

Qualifications Summary for the Criminal Defense Attorney:

– Juris Doctor required.
– Must be a licensed Attorney able to practice in North Carolina.
– Must have at least 3-5+ years of criminal law experience.

– Prior experience as a Public Defender or Assistant DA is helpful.

– Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

– Self-starter with a strong work ethic and the ability to manage a caseload independently.

– Passion for defending the accused and upholding justice.
