Responsibilities of the Workers’ Compensation Defense Litigation Attorney:
– Handle a high-volume workers’ compensation defense caseload with a strong emphasis on litigation, including all phases from inception through resolution.
– Work closely with a dedicated partner while taking increasing ownership of files, strategy, and case development.
– Conduct and defend depositions of claimants, treating physicians, and expert witnesses.
– Appear at hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences before the Georgia State Board of Workers’ Compensation.
– Develop and execute effective litigation strategies to achieve favorable outcomes for insurance carrier and employer clients.
– Maintain direct, ongoing communication with insurance carriers, adjusters, and clients, providing clear legal analysis, timely updates, and practical recommendations.
– Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal correspondence with precision and attention to detail.
– Deliver a high level of client service while managing deadlines and maintaining compliance with all applicable workers’ compensation statutes and regulations.
Requirements of the Workers’ Compensation Defense Litigation Attorney:
– Active license to practice law in the State of Georgia, in good standing
– Demonstrated litigation experience, including handling contested hearings, depositions, mediations, and motion practice
– Strong working knowledge of Georgia Workers’ Compensation law, procedural rules, and administrative litigation practices
– Proven ability to communicate clearly and persuasively—both verbally and in writing—with clients, opposing counsel, judges, and administrative law judges
– Experience in workers’ compensation defense strongly preferred; candidates with backgrounds as Public Defenders, Assistant District Attorneys, or Solicitors with significant courtroom experience will also be considered
– Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage a high-volume caseload while meeting strict deadlines
– Client-focused, outgoing, and professional demeanor with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers and claims professionals
– Self-motivated, organized, and proactive, with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team-oriented litigation environment
