Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate pricing requests for RFPs in collaboration with Business Development and attorneys; develop pricing responses and secure approvals
  • Partner with firm leadership and committees to define, track, and measure performance of AFAs
  • Support annual rate-setting process through market research and internal data analysis
  • Collaborate with partners to design client-specific pricing strategies that ensure profitability
  • Advise and coach attorneys on pricing strategy, negotiation tactics, and market trends
  • Develop and implement pricing templates and ensure consistent usage
  • Monitor financial performance of client matters, including budgets, fee structures, and KPIs
  • Provide regular reporting and alerts to stakeholders on matter and client performance
  • Conduct profitability analysis, including staffing leverage, revenue realization, and cost of service delivery
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and service delivery
  • Build tools and dashboards to track and communicate profitability insights
  • Analyze market trends, competitor pricing, and client expectations to inform strategy
  • Develop pricing narratives that align value, risk, scope, and outcomes
  • Contribute to practice-level pricing strategies, including rate structures and discounting guidance
  • Collaborate with Finance, Analytics, and Legal Project Management teams to enhance reporting and performance tracking
  • Supervise, mentor, and manage team members to promote collaboration and accountability

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and profitability analysis within a law firm or professional services environment
  • Strong experience with financial modeling, reporting tools, and data analysis
  • Experience developing and managing complex matter budgets and variance analysis
  • Proficiency with financial systems, business intelligence, and reporting tools preferred
  • 2+ years of team management and leadership experience
  • Strong analytical, communication, and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information
