Legal Accounting Specialist

Jones Networking is recruiting for a Legal Accounting Specialist to join a leading Personal Injury Law Firm in Charlotte, NC. The Legal Accounting Specialist is responsible for managing incoming and outgoing payments for the Settlement Department. Responsibilities Summary of the Legal Accounting Specialist:
– Obtain and review itemized reimbursement claims, and dispute unrelated items.
– Open and manage subrogation claims with Medicare and Medicaid.
– Perform settlement reviews at the final stages of personal injury and workers’ comp claims.
– Verify account balances with medical providers and record payment information.
– Research and process refunds from medical providers.
– Run expense reports and calculate settlement distributions based on attorney instruction.
– Process checks for clients and medical providers, and ensure that payments are issued promptly.
– Prepare and process files for closing.
– Schedule settlement appointments between clients and attorneys.
– Perform other administrative tasks and duties as assigned.
Qualifications Summary of the Legal Accounting Specialist:
– Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
– At least 1-5 years of accounting experience in a legal setting.
– Experience with personal injury liens is a notable positive.
– Ability to prioritize job responsibilities to accommodate an ever-changing, fast-paced environment.
– Proficient with Microsoft Office, as well as an ability to learn / use various software programs.
– Excellent customer service skills.
– Working knowledge of medical terminology, diagnostic codes, and HIPAA regulations preferred.
