Food QA Manager Position Summary:
– Ensure the production and distribution of products meet or exceed all quality standards, in addition to adhering to company and regulatory standards.
– Support the continuous quality improvement program which includes quality control and quality assurance.
– Participate in the preparation and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all tasks related to Food Quality and Food Safety.
– Identify the need for improvement of current programs and implement the necessary changes.
– Monitor food processing procedures by plant personnel to ensure regulatory compliance while producing premium products.
– Assist with food safety and quality audits performed by regulatory agencies (USDA, FDA, Health Department, Virginia Department of Agriculture, Military Veterinary Command), third-party certifying auditing companies and customer audits.
– Perform release inspections on incoming materials, in-process products and finished products to ensure quality standards and process controls are being met.
– Make quality related recommendations to FSQA Director to enhance the plant’s ability to produce high quality products.
– Investigate customer complaints, determine root cause analysis, implement corrective action, and follow up on the efficiency of the changes made.
– Review production and quality control records and ensure that corrective actions are taken as needed.
– Ensure that the plant is operating in accordance with federal regulations, customer requirements and BRC standard. Educate all departments to those standards and audit processes and procedures to identify and address gaps.
– Maintain written programs and policies as well as HACCP.
– Supervise and train the Quality Control Staff, review their performance and provide guidance for improvement.
Food QA Manager Qualifications Summary:
– Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or related field preferred.
– A minimum of 2 years experience managing quality and food safety operations, programs, and staff in a food manufacturing facility.
– Minimum 2 years experience managing a staff of food QA/QC personnel.
– Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
– Experience working with GFSI standards.
– Excellent project management skills.
