Vice President of Legal Operations

Jones Networking is recruiting for a VP of Legal Operations to join a growing Law Firm. This position can be based remotely, ideally in California. This position will require occasional travel for team meetings, vendor relations, and other firm needs. The VP of Legal Operations is a critical position within the firm and comes with a compelling compensation package, annual bonus and 100% employer-paid health insurance.
Reporting to the Senior Partner, the VP of Legal Operations will lead talent acquisition and management, operational discipline as well as vendor relations. This person will ensure standardization and establishment of performance metrics as well as develop and implement strategies to support achievement of the Firm’s litigation financial goals.
Responsibilities of the Vice President of Legal Operations:
- Talent Management:
- Responsible for leading all back-office recruiting, hiring, people management and career development.
- Serve as the point of leadership for priorities and productivity.
- Drive team engagement and alignment on deliverables.
- Provide clear guidance and directives to accomplish litigation and strategic milestone goals.
- Operational Discipline.
- Ensure current and accurate process documentation is in place.
- Establish and monitor quality standards.
- Outline new workflows when needed; train staff accordingly.
- Implement new firm policies and enforce existing policies.
- Oversee marketing and operations budget.
- Vendor Relations:
- Select suitable vendor partnerships for firm needs.
- Serve as the liaison for all vendors.
- Communicate firm needs and manage escalations/issues.
- Oversee project kick-off and delivery goals.
- Monitors vendor production and quality.
- Digest vendor reporting and translation for internal and external needs.
- KPI Analysis:
- Close, daily review of key metrics and milestones to ensure the firm is tracking with strategic and litigation goals.
Qualifications Summary of the Vice President of Legal Operations:
- B.A. or B.S required; J.D or MBA preferred
- Minimum of at least 7+ years’ experience in personal injury and/or mass tort legal operations.
- Successful record of project management and a strong exposure to technology.
- History of operational excellence, exceptional analytical skills and execution abilities.
- Strong client management skills with executive level communication experience.
- Ability to build and lead strong teams; utilize employee development and influential skills.
- Self-starter who enjoys working in a dynamic, collaborative, and innovative high-growth environment.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Highly organized, attention to detail, and critical thinking skills required.
- Experience using case management software.
- Demonstrate a high degree of initiative and follow-through.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize job responsibilities to accommodate an ever-changing, fast-paced environment.
